What the court approved

On October 14, 2026, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas entered an order confirming the Chapter 11 plan in the jointly administered Genesis Healthcare cases, Case No. 25-80185.

The confirmation order implements a plan that uses multiple treatment groups and a General Unsecured Claims Distribution Model. The order does not support treating all general unsecured claims as receiving one guaranteed recovery percentage.

Why a confirmed plan is not a fixed recovery quote

A creditor's ultimate distribution can depend on the estate or distribution group to which the claim is assigned, the final allowed amount of the claim, objections and settlements, available trust or estate assets, administrative costs, reserves, and the timing and mechanics established by the plan and related documents.

• Confirm the specific debtor against which the claim is asserted.

• Review the plan, confirmation order, distribution model, and any later claim-objection order together.

• Distinguish an estimated recovery from a guaranteed distribution.

• Track record dates, election deadlines, and information requests from the claims or plan administrator.
